ELWIS
The best-in-class measurement system
ELWIS (Evaluation of Light Weight Impedance System), the latest addition to the Autoneum measurement system portfolio, allows for a full and rapid characterization of porous materials. While the evaluation of different acoustic concepts usually requires a large database of material measurements, ELWIS only needs a single sample of a porous material from the manufacturing line or from a vehicle component.
ELWIS consists of the applications ELWIS-A and ELWIS-S which can be used separately; however, both are needed for a complete material simulation.
ELWIS-A evaluates acoustic parameters that are needed to evaluate the acoustic performance of sound insulation and sound absorbing multi-layer treatment.
ELWIS-S measures structural parameters (including the “Poisson Ratio” for foam materials) that are needed to simulate the dynamical and acoustical behaviour of real finite-size sound package parts in the medium to low frequency range.
ELWIS is very easy to operate: thanks to its user-friendly software, users with only limited expertise on porous material characterization can use ELWIS and obtain correct results.
The unique benefits:
- the ideal tool for obtaining the material parameters used input data for component simulation using e.g. SISAB or SEA
- the right choice to quickly compare the performances of different sound package solutions or materials
- software can easily be operated also by non-experts
- rapid, easy and reliable data evaluation with only one porous material sample
- supersedes large databases with material parameters to make the right decision regarding sound packages
- can also be used as a quality control system
- adaptable to a wide range of materials and parts
- combines the benefits of inverse methods together with innovative post-processing and material knowledge
